New Member Benefit – Fee Forgiveness!
We understand that life happens, and most checking account overdrafts happen due to a timing issue for deposits coming in and expenses going out. All Montana Credit Union checking accounts have Overdraft Privilege available for members who qualify for the service. You must opt in to Overdraft Privilege, which you can do when you open your checking account or by talking to a Member Service Representative. With Overdraft Privilege, you now have access to Fee Forgiveness, which gives you the opportunity to have any overdraft privilege fees you have incurred on a day forgiven on your account at the end of that same day.
Fee Forgiveness may apply if qualifying deposits are made on the same business day a fee is assessed on your account.
Qualifying deposits include:
- ACH and electronic deposits
- Cash deposits
- Wire transfers
- ATM cash deposits made at a Montana Credit Union ATM
- Check deposits made in a branch
- Internal transfers from another Montana Credit Union account
Deposits that may not qualify for fee forgiveness include mobile check deposits, ATM check deposits, and deposits subject to an extended hold.
Your account will be reviewed during our end of day process, which typically starts at 11:00 PM MST daily. If your available balance in your account (including the fee, and including any same-day deposits) is $0 or more, any overdraft fees you have been assessed on that day will be reversed. This will show in your account’s transaction history as “Fee Forgiveness – Same Day Positive.”
If you have questions about Overdraft Protection or Fee Forgiveness, please reach out through the Contact Us form on the website, stop by a branch to speak with a Member Service Representative, or give us a call or text at (406) 727-2210.
Disclosures: Overdraft Privilege is a discretionary service with a maximum overdraft limit of $500, based on your available balance. Payment of overdrafts is not guaranteed. A fee of $30 per item will apply when we pay an overdraft. Overdrafts must be repaid promptly, and no later than 30 days from the date of the overdraft. Business accounts are not eligible for Overdraft Privilege. Members may opt out of Overdraft Privilege at any time. We reserve the right to limit, suspend, or discontinue Overdraft Privilege at our discretion.
Federal law requires members to opt in for Overdraft Privilege coverage on ATM and one-time debit card transactions.
Fee Forgiveness: If your account receives qualifying deposits on the same business day a fee is assessed, the fee may be reversed. Qualifying deposits include ACH and electronic deposits, cash deposits, wire transfers, ATM cash deposits made at a Montana Credit Union ATM, in-branch check deposits, and internal transfers from another Montana Credit Union account. Deposits that may not qualify include mobile check deposits, ATM check deposits, and deposits subject to a hold.
At the end of each business day (generally around 11:00 p.m. MST), we will review your account. If your available balance (including same-day deposits and the fees) is $0 or more, the overdraft fee will be reversed.
