Furlough Assistance Program: Montana CU is here to help
We know that the ongoing federal government shutdown, now just over three weeks, may be creating stress and uncertainty for many in our community. Please know that Montana Credit Union is here to help. If you’re facing financial challenges because of the shutdown, we want to help you find stability and peace of mind.
Our Furlough Assistance Program offers relief options for members directly impacted by the 2025 federal government shutdown. This includes federal employees who have been furloughed without pay or are required to work without pay. Through this program, you may be eligible for short-term loan modifications or payment deferrals. You may also be eligible to skip up to two monthly payments within a 12-month period on qualifying loans.
We’ve also created two special loan options to make things a little easier during this time:
- A temporary 0% interest Emergency Personal Line of Credit for qualifying members impacted by the shutdown
- A personal loan with flexible repayment plans designed to fit your needs
In addition, for impacted members we will refund any non-sufficient funds (NSF) or overdraft protection (ODP) fees incurred after the shutdown began. Late payment fees on loan accounts with due dates after the start of the shutdown will also be waived or refunded.
Our goal is to provide immediate, compassionate support for those affected. This program will remain available for the duration of the government shutdown. If you’ve been impacted, please reach out to one of our loan officers—we’ll work with you personally to find the best solution for you.
All of us at Montana Credit Union are committed to helping you navigate this challenging time with confidence and support.
